Jan. 24, Monday -- Inequality in education and reforms that can reduce disparities will be the topic of a lecture when аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA Professor Jeannie Oakes speaks at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis. Oakes will present "Just Schools: Social Inquiry and Social Action." She is аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA's Presidential Professor in Educational Equity and director of both аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA's and аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢'s (ACCORD). Her research examines inequalities in U.S. schools and follows the progress of reforms. Oakes is the author of 17 books and more than 100 published reports and articles. The lecture will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Alpha Gamma Rho Hall of the Alumni and Visitors Center.
