Speaking of name changes, the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis News Service is now .

鈥淲e believe this new title more accurately reflects our primary functions,鈥 said Keith Sterling, director. 鈥淒ue to our generation of news content, we are known as News Service to many across the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis campus. In addition, we are the funnel for media inquiries to the university and work closely to ensure a positive and cooperative relationship with all members of the press.鈥

The purpose and destinations are the same: leaving 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis for a quarter, or a summer or a year, to study in other countries.

Only now, students have a new starting point: 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Study Abroad, the new name for the Education Abroad Center.

The program also has a (and a new URL), with large feature photos and links to the myriad opportunities for overseas study: 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis鈥 own Quarter Abroad and Summer Abroad programs; the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 system鈥檚 Education Abroad Program; and independent programs.

The name change took effect Nov. 1 after more than a year of research into Internet search habits (how students and others look for study abroad), Web traffic patterns, naming conventions among peer institutions and ongoing discussions with campus constituents.

鈥淭he goal is to improve visibility among students and constituents by way of a name that is more intuitive and descriptive,鈥 said Zach Frieders, associate director of 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Study Abroad.

Also, 鈥渨e hope the move will discourage the shortening of our name to an acronym 鈥 a frustrating practice that confuses students,鈥 said Frieders, citing as an example the similarlity of EAC to the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 system鈥檚 EAP.

鈥淭his is particularly true in the study abroad field, which has become an alphabet soup of provider names,鈥 Frieders said. 鈥淭he hope is our new name will be clear and concise, and help us to stand out among other options for study abroad.鈥

新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis already stands out as the only campus in the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 system with 鈥渃ampus-based鈥 study abroad opportunities during the academic year, meaning that 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis faculty members design and lead programs, and students receive regular 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis credit.

The Quarter Abroad schedule for 2014 includes programs in Taiwan (鈥淧harmaceutical Chemistry in Taipei鈥), United Kingdom (鈥淏ritish Culture and Internships in London鈥), Argentina (鈥淪panish Language and Culture in Mendoza鈥), Australia (鈥淎ustralian Writing and Internships in Sydney鈥), France (鈥淔rench Language and Culture in Paris鈥), Italy (鈥淚talian Language and Culture in Florence鈥) and Mexico (鈥淟atino/a Health Internship in Oaxaca鈥).

The 2014 catalog covers 32 countries with 51 programs, including 鈥淭urkey: Classical and Underwater Archaeology,鈥 鈥淪ustainable Energy Technologies鈥 (South Korea),  鈥淧ublic Health and Community Medicine in Delhi,鈥 鈥淰ietnam: Then and Now,鈥 鈥淏erlin Culture Before and After the War,鈥 鈥淭he Politics of Global Inequality鈥 (Switzerland),  鈥淪hajespeare 鈥 Live!鈥 (United Kingdom), 鈥淐ommunity Politics and Development in the European Union鈥 (Germany and Italy), 鈥淏razilian Literature, Culture and the Arts鈥 and 鈥淐uba 鈥 Narratives of Resistance.鈥 

The catalog comprises summer, quarter, semester and yearlong offerings in 42 countries, with two more to be added in 2014-15: Dominican Republic and Indonesia.
