Brittney Griner’s Storytelling Shines at Chancellor’s Colloquium

Olympic gold medalist and WNBA all-star Brittney Griner received a standing ovation at the Mondavi Center Sunday (Nov. 3) after talking with Chancellor Gary S. May about her time in a Russian prison, her release via prisoner swap, her upbringing and more.

Her visit to campus was part of the Chancellor’s Colloquium Distinguished Speaker Series, and was in support of Griner's new book, Coming Home.

Estella Mendoza of Dixon was 15 weeks pregnant in September 2016 when a routine blood test and an ultrasound examination detected a serious abnormality: Her fetus had myelomeningocele, a form of spina bifida.

Later that year, Mendoza's baby, Alexander, became the first patient at �°��ϲ��Ļ��Ϣ Davis Children's Hospital to undergo potentially life-changing open-fetal surgery for spina bifida.

�°��ϲ��Ļ��Ϣ Davis’ historic run in the women's basketball postseason came to an end March 25 in Assembly Hall at the University of Indiana, where the host Hoosiers defeated the Aggies, 81-66, in the quarterfinals of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
