аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis alumni show art throughout the region starting tonight

The fall season is kick starting this weekend with various new art exhibitions coming to the region. At in Sacramento, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis alum Manuel Fernando Rios is curating a show featuring multiple artists, Who Gets to Call It Chicano Art? It starts Friday, Aug. 31 and runs through Sept. 30. Second Saturday Reception: Sept. 8, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Alumni Kyle Dunn and Daniel Brickman will join Justin Marsh, a preparator at the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Manetti Shrem Museum, in Trinary at the Sacramento City College . The show is curated by alum Terry Peterson, SCC professor of art.  This show is already open, but the opening reception is tonight, Thursday, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The exhibition runs through Sept. 26. 3835 Freeport Blvd. Parking is $2.

SFMOMA welcomes artists with Bay Area roots

SFMOMA this month welcomes new exhibitions by artists with deep Bay Area roots. It all kicks off this weekend with , opening on Saturday, Sept. 1, and culminates in two side-by-side exhibitions featuring artist and аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Professor Emeritus , opening on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Coming up at the Crocker: youth art and amazing portrait photography

In celebration of the Collaboration of the Arts organization’s rich history of promoting the arts among children and young people in and around Auburn, the is presenting an exhibition of works by young artists from this area of the foothills. The exhibition runs Thursday, Sept. 6 – Nov. 4. By connecting young and aspiring artists with art teachers and mentors, and by developing exciting and challenging projects for them, the Collaboration of the Arts continues its tradition of presenting this unique and lively art exhibit to the community. Access to this exhibition is free for museum members and free with admission for nonmembers. Visit crockerart.org for admission prices. A reception for the artists, which is open to the public, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1:30-3 p.m.
