Visit the main lobby of the Peter J. Shields Library and take a peek into the past through the eyes of The California Aggie’s own student photojournalists from the last 40 years.
"" stands in a linear, glass case to the left of the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Library main staircase. The collection of 15 photographs, some of them in color and some of them in black and white, range from the year 1980 to 2007.
The exhibit is free of charge and accessible to students, faculty and staff craving a break from their study crams, any history buffs, or any curious passersby through March 22, 2022.
Student photojournalists throughout the years have encapsulated almost every area of life that makes up the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis experience through their photographs. Images depict scenes of student life, live concerts, protests, regional life, breaking news, events, sports and beyond. The students’ contributions amplified the voices and experiences of fellow Aggies and the surrounding areas.
The project began as a collaboration between the then editor-in-chief of The California Aggie, Emily Stack, and the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Library’s Archives and Special Collections department in 2019. Now it is available to the public through the curation of the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Special Collections Department and preparation by Kevin Miller, head of Special Collections and university archivist.
