Jan. 26, 2 p.m. — Despite a rainy end to 2021, California is in the grip of a megadrought. In fact, the state has experienced drought in 15 of the last 20 years. What are the prospects for the current year? What does it mean for the environment, farmers and communities, and what steps can be taken? And what is the role of climate change in this? 

Join us Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. PST to discuss these questions live with two experts: 

  •  is professor of civil and environmental engineering and the director of the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis . A member of the  and an expert on California’s water management systems, he is interested in applying systems analysis, economic, and management methods to infrastructure and public works problems. 
  •  is a professor in the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis . He studies climate data and modeling climate to understand global and regional phenomena, including heat waves and the impact of climate change on California’s climate and the Sierra snowpack. 

The conversation, hosted by Soterios Johnson, will be streamed live on and beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26.
