Two Aggie alumni, Hugh Hogland and Ty Kelly, are among more than 100 University of California students past and present competing in the Tokyo Olympics. The opening ceremony is today (July 23), although competition in the Summer Games has already begun in some events.

And, from 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Health, Marcia 鈥淢arcy鈥 Faustin is co-head team physician for Team USA women鈥檚 gymnastics, among nearly 30 coaches and medical staff from 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 who are participating in the Summer Games.

Hogland played basketball here in 2020-21 while enrolled in the Graduate School of Management. In the Olympics, he is playing for Japan 鈥 he has U.S. and Japanese citizenship 鈥 and using the surname Watanabe, his mother鈥檚 maiden name. He came to 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis with two years of collegiate eligibility (after graduating early from the University of Portland); after playing just one season with the Aggies, he signed a professional contract with Japan's B League.

Ty Kelly in baseball, Hugh Hogland in basketball

Kelly, who played baseball here in 2008 and 2009 before going professional, is taking the field for Israel in the Olympics. A Jewish American who also has Israeli citizenship, he first played for Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, then rejoined the team at the European Championship and Africa/Europe Olympic Qualification Tournament in 2019. Israel won the latter, earning a berth in in the Tokyo Games, the country鈥檚 first-ever appearance in Olympic baseball.

Meet 鈥楧r. Marcy鈥

Faustin, known as 鈥淒r. Marcy鈥 to the gymnasts of Team USA, practices family and community medicine, sports medicine and musculoskeletal pain medicine in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Health.

Her athletics background includes four conference high jump titles for Loyola University, Chicago, where she holds the Ramblers' school indoor and outdoor records in that event.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree at Loyola, did post-baccalaureate work at Southern Illinois University and received her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago.

She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, California Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and USA Gymnastics.
