Are you interested in learning a foreign language that will give you a powerful career advantage? How about reading some of the greatest works of literature ever written? Knowledge of Russian opens up a wealth of professional opportunities, particularly in fields such as international relations, law, technology and governmental service. It is also one of the most widely spoken foreign languages in the greater Sacramento and San Francisco areas.

Major Requirements

As a Russian major, you will begin with a series of progressive language courses designed to teach you to read, write and speak Russian in two years. Your upper-division courses will include more advanced language instruction, literature courses which will train you in literary and linguistic analysis and culture courses where you will gain insight into the history and traditions of the Russian people.
