Update 1 p.m. Oct. 8: IET is now estimating that it will bring Banner back online the morning of Monday (Oct. 10). This revised timeline comes after IET sent the results of overnight (Friday-Saturday) health checks to the vendor, and the vendor’s analysis revealed more errors. They’ve been repaired, but due to these errors, the vendor recommended additional health scans to ensure data integrity. Due to the large size of the data files, the scanning is expected to last until Sunday (Oct. 9). After that, IET will do additional testing before bringing the service online on Monday.
Update 6:25 p.m. Oct. 7: IET reports that its monitoring identified a small of number of data errors in the Banner service, so, out of an abundance of caution, the database has been taken down. Additional health checks are being run to ensure data integrity. IET expects Banner to return to service on Saturday (Oct. 7).
Update 5 p.m. Oct. 7: Information and Educational Technology reports that Banner services (including myucdavis) have been restored, and that staff continues to closely monitor the situation. If you experience any problems with Banner or myucdavis, you are encouraged to report such problems immediately to the IT Express Service Desk.

Vice Chancellor Adela de la Torre and CIO-Vice Provost Viji Murali sent this message to the campus community this afternoon (Oct. 7)
Campus community,
A hardware failure caused Banner, the student information system for аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis, to become unavailable as of approximately 7:30 a.m. today. Services that depend on Banner for data, including myucdavis, SISWeb and SISDocs, are not currently available.
The vendor, Oracle, has replaced the part that appears to have caused the failure. The campus has begun a process to restart and test the service. We expect the system to be up sometime this evening, but please check back to for updates. The campus continues to pursue other options in case they are needed to restore the service as quickly as possible.
If you have questions or comments, please contact the IT Express Service Desk at 530-754-HELP (4357).
Sincerely,
Adela de la Torre
