DEI鈥檚 Anti-Racism Syllabus Lists Myriad Ways to Engage

Two weeks ago the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion posted 鈥11 Suggested Actions Toward Anti-Racism in the Office and on Your Own.鈥 Now comes the , a compilation of activities across the university 鈥 Davis and Sacramento campuses 鈥 addressing bias, racism and structural inequalities.

鈥淪ome of these activities have already occurred 鈥 like our Moment of Silence for George Floyd 鈥 and many more are in the offing,鈥 said Renetta Garrison Tull, vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. 鈥淲e should be proud of what we have done and all that is still to come, providing the opportunity to learn about these issues, to engage and to contribute to addressing them.鈥

Indeed, as Tull noted upon the release of the , her office is equipping the campus community with tools 鈥渢o take ownership of developing and sustaining a strong, inclusive climate.鈥

MOMENT OF SILENCE

Going back to the summer, the Anti-Racism Syllabus notes in its introduction how 鈥渢he 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis community responded to the death of George Floyd and the unjust killings of too many other Black people in America with a period of acknowledgment, mourning, reflection and reckoning.鈥

Now, with DEI鈥檚 11 Suggested Actions and the syllabus, 鈥淲e are in the process of moving from isolated allyship to action.鈥

The syllabus includes ongoing 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis courses like 鈥淟iving the Principles of Community鈥 and 鈥淪TEAD: Strength Through Equity and Diversity Faculty Search Committee Workshop鈥 (for the Davis campus) and 鈥淓nhanced Training for Faculty Search Committee Members鈥 (for 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Health), and the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息OP series 鈥淢anaging Implicit Bias.鈥

Diversity and Inclusion Education and Training workshops also are on the syllabus. They include 鈥淢icroaggressions: Towards Greater Awareness and Understanding,鈥 鈥淢aking the Unconscious Conscious: Understanding and Mitigating Bias鈥 and 鈥淯npacking Oppression.鈥

You can also find the Cross Cultural Center鈥檚 鈥淐ombatting Anti-Blackness鈥 and 鈥淭he Bystander Imperative鈥 series.

Resources round out the syllabus, along with a list of academic courses in which students can learn about race relations.
