The Department of Theatre and Dance鈥檚 newest production is set a long time ago, but explores issues that are still relevant today.
That鈥檚 what one of the stars of 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis鈥 production of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill鈥檚 The Threepenny Opera wants people to take from the work, which is being performed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, two weeks in a row, Nov. 14-16 and Nov. 21-23.
The Threepenny Opera, described by Brecht as a 鈥減lay with music,鈥 is a criticism of capitalism and middle-class morality, set in a world of corruption with a score that draws upon opera, jazz and cabaret. Set in Victorian London, the musical focuses on the exploits of Macheath, an amoral criminal, who manipulates women and the law with equal dexterity.
