Event Explores Asian Pacific Culture, Issues

April 19-25, Saturday to Friday -- Asian Pacific Culture Week will celebrate culture and explore issues of Asian Pacific peoples. Although the week officially kicks off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday with live music, entertainment and a bone marrow drive, Saturday will feature a workshop and showcase for musicians, poets and other artists interested in social justice. Other highlights include a presentation by Internet celebrities Philip Yu and Kristina Sheryl Wong Monday evening; a discussion with аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis faculty members of issues affecting Asian Americans noon Tuesday; a discussion on Asian youth in America with Vickie Nam, author of "YELL-Oh Girls! Emerging Voices Explore Culture, Identity and Growing Up Asian American" Tuesday evening; a Wednesday evening with Viet guitarman and raconteur Tinh; a performance by the Purple Moon Dance Project of San Francisco Thursday evening; and a cultural showcase Friday evening.
