The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Board of Regents announced it is coordinating with the College Futures Foundation to hold two public forums on аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅϢ’s search for a new president, and one of those forums will at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis. The other will be at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA.
The , which works to ensure equity of opportunity and access to higher education, will hold the forums with the regents’ special committee on the presidential recruitment, to gather input from higher education associations and other organizations in the fields of postsecondary education, work force and economic development, and student success. The forums will include the opportunity for public comment.
The new president will succeed Janet Napolitano, who that she would step down Aug. 1, 2020, after eight years as president. She plans to take time off before teaching at the Goldman School of Public Policy at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Berkeley where she is a tenured professor.
The College Futures Foundation forums are scheduled as follows:
- Davis — 1-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, Vanderhoef Studio Theatre,
- аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA — 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, Palisades Room, Carnesale Commons
Public comment will be at the beginning of each forum and will follow the Board of Regents’ .
The special committee will hold additional town halls around the system in early 2020, and is planning to schedule other opportunities to meet with constituent groups of the university. More information will be posted to the when available.

The board also announced the selection of the Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates executive search firm to help identify candidates and facilitate a global search for a president.
The regents’ special committee comprises Elliott and Regent Sherry Lansing, vice chair; Regents Michael Cohen, Cecilia Estolano, Lark Park and Richard Sherman; Student Regent Hayley Weddle; and Alumni Regent William Um; plus two ex officio members: Gavin Newsom, governor and board member, and John A. Pérez, board chair.
