May 16, Saturday -- The public is invited to learn about the rich diversity of beer styles and flavors, as well as why beer is the ideal accompaniment for the 1,500 different cheese varieties produced around the world, during a beer and cheese tasting and pairing. The event, "Cheese Loves Beer: Mastering the Marriage," will be led by аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis experts in brewing, cheese processing and functional foods. The speakers will be Charles Bamforth, Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences; Moshe Rosenberg, a food science professor and Cooperative Extension specialist in dairy science and technology; and Clare M. Hasler, a nutritionist and executive director of аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis’ Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science. The event, co-sponsored by Slow Food Yolo, will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Silverado Vineyards Sensory Theater of the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis.
