Oct. 13-14, Saturday and Sunday -- Horse enthusiasts, from hobbyists to breeders, will gather from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for educational lectures, a polo demonstration and a tour of аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis' William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Saturday's lectures will focus on horse nutrition, shoeing, trail riding and horse camping, regulatory issues and equine herpesvirus-1. Speakers will include veterinarians, professors, a farrier and a polo coach from аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis; California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; and the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Also speaking will be a private veterinary ophthalmologist and a trail-riding and horse-camping expert. On Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., a farrier workshop and laboratory for horse owners and professional horseshoers will be held.
