March 20, Thursday -- Members of the wine and winegrape industries will gather in Freeborn Hall with аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis faculty members for this annual research update called Recent Advances in Viticulture and Enology. The workshop's morning sessions will emphasize the results of recent applied research in wine microbiology, taints and oxidation. In the afternoon, the focus will shift to vineyard-related research topics, including rootstock selection, weed management and the possible use of a plant hormone to minimize berry damage during mechanical harvesting. The event is co-sponsored by the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Department of Viticulture and Enology, and the Trellis Alliance, a nonprofit public outreach organization. It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with a $220 registration fee that includes lunch, sensory evaluation and a one-year membership in the Trellis Alliance.
