October event takes a sweet look at honey

The many facets of honey, from the beehive to a healthy diet, will be spotlighted Friday, Oct. 21, during a special daylong event at the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Conference Center.

The event 鈥淗oney!鈥 will feature honey tastings, a honey-themed lunch and presentations by 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis faculty members on the history and merits of honey. Faculty also will talk about why honeybees are in trouble.

The speakers will include bee authorities Eric Mussen, a Cooperative Extension apiculturist; Brian Johnson, an assistant professor; and Norman Gary, a professor emeritus and honeybee showman. All three are from the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Department of Entomology. Also speaking will be Liz Applegate, author and lecturer for one of the nation鈥檚 largest undergraduate nutrition classes, and Professor Emeritus Louis Grivetti, a nutritional geographer, both of the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Department of Nutrition.

The public event is sponsored by the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science, the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis Department of Entomology and the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts.

Admission is $75 for industry members and the general public; $50 for 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 faculty, staff and Friends of the Robert Mondavi Institute; and $25 for 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 students.
