Dear Campus Community,
Throughout the night, we have been in close communication with the city of Davis Police Department regarding the tragic shooting and killing of police officer Natalie Corona in downtown Davis. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and fellow officers.
While details are still unknown, we鈥檝e learned from the Davis police that the suspect is no longer a threat, and we鈥檝e lifted the shelter-in-place request.
We want to thank the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis police, who have been escorting students to their dorms and from various buildings on campus. We want to thank the campus community for cooperating with the police. We want to acknowledge that due to an unanticipated glitch in the WarnMe system, some of you did not receive our initial alerts. We corrected that issue as soon as possible.
We will hold classes as scheduled on Friday (Jan. 11). Students should contact and staff should contact the for counseling or other support.
We know our community has been alarmed and afraid while tonight鈥檚 events unfolded. While we return to our regular schedules on Friday, our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Corona鈥檚 family. Please keep them in your thoughts as well. In times like this, we are truly grateful for the dedication of those in our community who protect us at any cost.

11:20 p.m. Jan. 10: Campus authorities lifted a shelter-in-place advisory at 11:15 p.m.
鈥淧lease continue to avoid the downtown area in the city of Davis,鈥 authorities said in an Aggie Alert message. City police joined by officers from around the region were still searching for a suspect in a shooting that involved a city police officer earlier in the evening.

A city of Davis police officer was involved in a shooting in downtown Davis this evening (Jan. 10). The suspect is still at large. Authorities advise: Shelter in place. Stay inside. Be alert to your surroundings.
If you witnessed the shooting or have information that could help find the suspect, please call 911. If you do not have useful information, please only call 911 if you have an emergency.
