Celebrating the Principles of Community

Our annual celebration of the °ϲĻϢ Davis Principles of Community is approaching, and four events — a Racial Healing Circle and a campus dialogue for everyone, a networking luncheon for staff, and a workshop with lunch for faculty — are asking for RSVPs:

  • “Exploring Bias: A Campus Dialogue” — Hosted by and co-hosted by the Sustained Dialogue student organization and the . Open to all members of the campus community. Lunch provided. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, Meeting Room D, . RSVPs are requested by email.
  • Principles of Community Staff Networking Luncheon — Sponsored by the and the Office of Campus Community Relations. The luncheon (free) is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the multipurpose room of the Student Community Center; only 70 guests can be accommodated. “Come enjoy a free lunch, engage in creative activities around what the Principles of Community mean to you, and learn more about °ϲĻϢ Davis constituent groups,” said Alissa Magorian, chair of the Staff Diversity Administrative Advisory Committee, which is one of the constituent groups.   • “The Principles of Community and Strategies to Foster an Inclusive Environment in the Classroom” — Special event for faculty, noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, Conference Room A, . Lunch will be served. RSVPs are requested by email by Friday, March 1. Presented by Colleen Bronner, lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and sponsored by the . In this program on establishing safe and supportive learning environments, topics will include managing controversial and-or difficult discussions, and addressing “discussion monopolizers.”

All events except one will be held during Principles of Community Week, Feb. 25-March 1 — the lone exception being the March 7 faculty program noted above. Events are scheduled on the Davis and Sacramento campuses.
