Kate Klimow, departing staff advisor to the �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ Board of Regents, has simple advice for anyone who is intrigued by the role:

“Apply,” she said. “You don’t need to have years of experience, or be at a certain level, to serve as staff advisor to the regents.”

Klimow, chief administrative officer and director of external relations at �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ Irvine Beall Applied Innovation, added: “�°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ staff — and the roles we play — are incredibly diverse. If you’re interested in bringing your perspective and your experiences to the table, �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ needs you — and the experience will be more enriching than you can imagine.”

The time to apply is now (the deadline is Friday, April 3). The position is open to nonrepresented and represented staff or non-Academic Senate academic employees who have at least five years of �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ service.

Staff advisors serve as nonvoting members of designated regents’ committees, and participate in other meetings as well, while also visiting �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ campuses to solicit input from staff. The term begins in July and runs for two years — the first as staff advisor-designate, working alongside the staff advisor; and the second as the staff advisor.

This July, as Klimow steps down, Ann Jeffrey moves up to staff advisor. Jeffrey is assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff at �°������ϲ���Ļ��Ϣ Berkeley. Read more about her.
