Top Aerosol Modelers Meet Dec. 5-7

Dec. 5-7, Wednesday through Friday -- The first International Aerosol Modeling Algorithms Conference will be held at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis. It is the inaugural event of the first series of regularly scheduled meetings of scientists who model atmospheric aerosol dynamics. These models are essential to public policy debate on urban and regional smog formation, global climate change, stratospheric ozone depletion and the health effects of inhaling particulate matter.

Researchers who develop and refine aerosol modules for air-quality models will attend from leading institutions, including:

  • аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢LA, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Berkeley, аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Irvine, Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University
  • National Center for Atmospheric Research and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
  • National Research Council of Canada
  • L'Institut National de l'Environnement Industriel et des Risques, France
  • Centro de Previsão de Tempo e Estudos Climaticos (CPTEC), Brazil

This conference is sponsored by the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²ÊÄÚÄ»ÐÅÏ¢ Davis Air Quality Research Center and the California Air Resources Board, with additional support provided by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).

News media are invited to attend.
