Four people were injured around 3:30 p.m. today (April 5) when a branch of a eucalyptus tree fell in front of the Student Community Center at the University of California, Davis.

The injured — all women — had been sitting on the patio outside the Student Community Center, across from Rock Hall, when the branch came down from a eucalyptus tree.

A police officer estimated the branch’s length at 32 feet and said it fell from about 40 feet. A tree crew was en route to remove the branch.

The campus Fire Department and Police Department, along with Facilities Management, were quick to arrive to the incident after the call came in at 3:33 p.m. Authorities blocked traffic for a time on Hutchison Drive in front of the building.
