And a few hours after ESPN made its announcement, the basketball program learned that °ϲĻϢ Davis-Cal State Northridge contest at CSUN on Saturday, Feb. 7, will be FOX Sports Prime Ticket’s game of the week (start time adjusted to 7:30 p.m.)
In the Jan. 10 TV game, the Aggies defeated Long Beach State 73-67, improving to 2-0 in Big West Conference play and 12-3 overall. The Aggies had not defeated the 49ers at home since Jan. 22, 2005.
“(Saturday night’s) game was unbelievable,” head coach Jim Les told the media. “I’ve been to a lot of places: I’ve coached at Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke University), played inside Madison Square Garden and Boston Garden and in front of full houses. The Pavilion does not take a back seat to any of those places.”
The game, like two other ESPN games in The Pavilion the last two seasons, drew more than 5,000 people whose enthusiasm, energy and Aggie Pride no doubt impressed the network enough to come back yet again.
The Aggies are on the road for their next three games, Jan. 15, 17 and 22. They return to The Pavilion the last week of the month, for games on Jan. 29 against °ϲĻϢ Santa Barbara and Cal Poly (on ESPNU) on the 31st.
