More than 200 students and others rallied and marched last Friday (Sept. 27) to demand action on climate change, showing 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis鈥 solidarity with demonstrations that occurred a week earlier around the world.
鈥淲e would have done it last week, had school been back in session,鈥 said Megan Phelps, chair of the . She and the other organizers, though, were determined to have 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis represent. And it did, on the very last day of the Global Climate Strike, which officially ran from Sept. 20 to 27, Phelps noted.
鈥淚 think people are ready for action,鈥 she said at the conclusion of the 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis strike.
Phelps and Malia Helms, president of the , led chants all through the event, which started as a rally on the Quad at about 11:30 a.m. Participants set off on the day鈥檚 planned march into downtown Davis at noon, taking Third Street and then B Street to the northwest corner of Central Park. There, at the busy intersection of Russell Boulevard and B, the activists chanted and waved signs until the rally ended at 12:30 p.m.
The joined the Climate Realty Project Campus Corps and the Zero Waste and Sustainability Club in sponsoring the event.
