Legislation allowing 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis to sell up to 20,000 gallons of student-produced wine annually is headed to the governor鈥檚 desk 鈥 again.
Senate Bill 918, introduced by Sen. Bill Dodd (D-Napa), passed the Legislature Sunday night (Aug. 30), the second-to-last day for bills to be approved by both houses this session.
Under existing law, 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis is required to dump wine produced by students, a process that Professor David Block, chair of the Department of Viticulture and Enology, called 鈥渘either environmentally nor fiscally sustainable.鈥
鈥淔or the most sustainable winery in the world, this [legislation] would be a big and important change,鈥 he said.
鈥淚 appreciate everything that Sen. Dodd and his staff have done to get the bill this far and am also extremely grateful for the groundwork laid by former Sen. Lois Wolk. The passage of SB 918 will go a long way toward helping us to maintain the excellence of our core missions of teaching, research and extension.鈥
Former Sen. Wolk (D-Davis) successfully routed SB 683 through the Legislature in 2016, and then-Gov. Jerry Brown signed the bill in 2017, creating a process for 新澳门六合彩内幕信息 Davis to receive a permit to sell the student-produced wine.
The new legislation is a technical cleanup bill clarifying language in the previous bill. Gov. Gavin Newsom has until Sept. 30 to sign or veto the new bill.
Professor Block said: 鈥淎s we face uncertainty from the current wildfires and pandemic, the passage of this bill by both houses gives us hope that we will have the opportunity to recover a portion of our winery鈥檚 operating costs through wine sales.鈥

goClubbers eligible for parking passes
Transportation Services has reinstated a goClub benefit that provides a limited number of complimentary parking passes to club members, who, as a condition of membership, must forego parking permits. Sometimes, though, say, during inclement weather or smoke events, goClub members may wish to drive 鈥 and now they can do so up to 10 times through the end of the year without incurring a charge.
The transportation and parking unit put a hold on goClub benefits earlier this year, due to public health guidance and budget challenges during the pandemic. Besides complimentary parking passes, benefits include transit subsidies, over-the-counter transit pass sales, and student-shared carpool permits.
Complimentary parking passes for 2020 are available to all goClub members: existing, returning and new. Remember: You cannot have a parking permit. The registration form asks you to declare your alternative mode of travel (other than driving), or if you are working or learning remotely.
You can choose to have your complimentary parking pass mailed to your home or you can pick up your pass on campus.
